Most state and federal government grants are granted to established businesses that have a track record of growth and strong financial performance. This means that there are very few grants available for start-up companies.

New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS)
If you are a job seeker who is interested in running a small business, you may be eligible to participate in the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS).
NEIS provides job seekers with:
- accredited small business training and business mentoring for up to 52 weeks
- income support for up to 39 weeks (NEIS Allowance) and NEIS Rental Assistance for up to 26 weeks (if eligible)
- personalised mentoring and support from a NEIS provider in the first year of the new business to help a job seeker put their business idea into practice.
Wyndham City hosts free NEIS information sessions at the Werribee Development Centre (address below) on the second Tuesday of every month at 2.00pm. Appointments are not necessary.
