Business of the Year Winner: ebm-papst A&NZ
Sponsored by Cedar Woods Properties Limited
Congratulations to ebm-papst A&NZ who were announced as the Business of the Year. ebm-papst is a 25 year old Australasian based manufacturer and distributor of market leading fans and motors. Through their head office in Laverton North, the company supplies high efficiency fans and motors to original equipment manufacturers and engineers who wish to upgrade their air movement systems.
All products supplied to the market whether they are made locally or abroad, are locally engineered to provide the optimum solution to the Australian end user. Backed by a principle that “every new product must be ecologically and economically superior to its predecessor”, ebm-papst is leading the way to a greener future.
With the manufacturing sector under significant pressure in Australia, ebm-papst is proving that enterprises driven by innovation and continuous improvement can succeed.
Business Person of the Year Winner: Boris Musa, Mainstream Aquaculture
Sponsored by Homestead Financial Group
As CEO of Mainstream Aquaculture, Boris leads a team of dedicated staff who are delivering a strategic plan to grow Mainstream Aquaculture into a major industry leading, international company whose foundation is built on producing the world’s best barramundi product. Boris completed a commercialisation strategy for Mainstream Aquaculture in which a profitable business platform was created from a highly innovative, research and development focused business. This resulted in Mainstream making the BRW's fast 100 company list in 2014.
Boris is a valued committee member of numerous organisations at both state and local level. Boris was recently awarded the prestigious young CEO of the year award from the Financial Review, reinforcing the high calibre at which he operates.
Mayoral Award Winner: Mondells Patisserie
Beginning from a tiny kitchen in the back of a Werribee home as a part time operation in late 2007, Mondells Patisserie is a great story of home grown success. At a very early stage Mondells outgrew their home base and moved to a factory in Lock Avenue before opening their Watton Street factory and shop front café and patisserie in 2013.
While the tempting offering of cakes, biscuits and pastries have become well known to many local residents and visitors, perhaps what is less known is the market penetration the company enjoys at a corporate level, supplying to major hospitality chains, conference and entertainment venues and international airlines.
The passion and drive of founding directors and executive chefs, Nigel and Katherine Braithwaite has been a major contributor to the success of the business and this has been equally matched by the enthusiasm, passion and professionalism of the staff at both front and back of house.
