Wyndham Art Gallery established the Wyndham Art Prize in 2015. It has become one of the largest prizes, in terms of the number of artists shortlisted for exhibition, in the country. Each year the artists are shortlisted by Wyndham Art Gallery curators and the judging is done by independent curators and art professionals.
The gallery shortlists entries on their own merits (as opposed to looking over CVs). The shortlisting results in an exhibition of scale and diversity with last year over 90 works exhibited. This means that both emerging and established artists from all backgrounds are exhibited side-by-side, a priority for Wyndham Art Gallery.
Artworks can take any form, including (but not limited to) sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, photography, installation, digital sound and video.
