An exciting public outdoor space in Werribee City Centre’s West End precinct opens in April, 2022.
Located at the front of the Wyndham Cultural Centre, the new open space features a beautiful timber deck, innovative shade structure made from repurposed containers, extensive seating and free Wi-Fi.
Creating a new hub for performances and community activations was a key design consideration for reimagining this space. Neon lights bring the space to life in the evening, creating a fun, playful feeling.
This exciting space is a new place for people to meet and catch up while also providing a welcoming entrance to the Wyndham Cultural Centre, Wyndham Art Gallery and Werribee Library.
Wyndham City Council was pleased to receive funding from the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program and the Victorian Government’s State Covid Outdoor Activation Grant to support the creation of this new public space.
The space will also be the entry to MADE on Watton: Reimagined, which is set to open in April in the corner tenancy of the Wyndham Cultural Centre. MADE on Watton is transitioning from a Council funded initiative and will now be run as a small business by an independent operator, The Reyes Retail Group.
The business will continue to empower local creatives by showcasing local artists, makers and designers from Wyndham, while also stocking other Australian-made and designed products. Offering unique and highly sought-after brands and locally made products, the pop-up shop will become a destination for locals and visitors alike and will be a welcome addition to the precinct.
This is one of many Council projects aimed at bringing people back to our much-loved town centres and shopping strips and ensuring our businesses can bounce back from the pandemic as quickly and as safely as possible.
