There are 3 wards in Wyndham with 11 elected Councillors.

The current Council was elected October 2020 for a four year term to work with the community and the organisation in setting Council's strategic direction.

The Mayor is elected annually by his or her fellow Councillors to represent the views and directions of Council, and provide leadership of the Council.

Harrison Ward

Harrison Ward includes the industrial precincts in Laverton, Laverton North, Point Cook, Truganina, Williams Landing and some parts of Hoppers Crossing.

The Harrison Ward population as of 2023 is estimated to be around 124,997 people based on estimated residential population. The Harrison Ward is home to the newest residents and is the most culturally diverse Ward in Wyndham with 53% of residents born overseas and using a language other than English at home (56%). The majority of households are couples with children (53%), mostly under the age of 15 years (37%). These residents also have the highest levels of education with 39% having a Bachelor degree or higher.

Iramoo Ward

Iramoo Ward contains around a quarter of the Wyndham population (53,000 residents) as at 2016.

The Iramoo Ward population as of 2023 is estimated to be around 88,824 people based on estimated residential population. The Iramoo Ward has a high proportion of overseas born residents with 53% of residents born overseas and using a language other than English at home (38%). The majority of households are couples with children (39%), mostly under the age of 15 years (26%). These residents also have the highest levels of trade qualifications with 18% possessing a vocational certificate.

Chaffey Ward

Chaffey Ward is situated in the centre of the Wyndham municipality and includes the suburbs of Tarneit, and parts of Werribee and Hoppers Crossing.

The Chaffey Ward population as of 2023 is estimated to be around 109,889 people based on estimated residential population. The Chaffey Ward has a high proportion of overseas born residents with half of the residents born overseas (49%) and using a language other than English at home (53%). The majority of households are couples with children (46%), mostly under the age of 15 years (30%). A third of these residents have a Bachelors degree or higher.
