From glowing angels and neon sculptures, to twinkling fairies, glow-in-the-dark hula hoopers and stunning fire shows, Wyndham City’s free Winter Street Party is set to dazzle, with a huge new program on Friday 28 June, from 4pm to 9pm.
Wyndham City’s Tourism and Major Events portfolio holder, Cr John Gibbons said the event, now in its fourth year, has become a must-do winter tradition, bringing thousands of people into Werribee City Centre in the middle of winter.
“This year we are thrilled to be bringing high calibre light installations to the city, including Enlighten by Born in a Taxi, a huge illuminated cube and performance space, designed by ex U2 lighting designer Bruce Ramus and sculptor David Murphy,” Cr Gibbons said.
“The program will also feature new neon works, with a playful winter theme including beanies, hearts and umbrellas from the renowned Carla O’Brien, who wowed the crowds with her installations last year and is always a must-see at White Night Melbourne.”
“There’ll be fire shows, ice sculpting, glow-in-the-dark face painting, projections, roving circus acts, kids craft and even a light-up dance floor!”
“The Wyndham Cultural Centre will feature a Piano Republic Speakeasy – a cosy loungeroom bar with jazz and cabaret artists including Mama Alto.”
“Local businesses will be open late serving up warm winter dishes, street food, hot chocolates and special retail offers.”
“It’s fantastic to see so many businesses get involved in this event and the energy out on the street, as families get to explore and enjoy their city in a whole new light.”
“Events like the Winter Street Party are a great way to showcase what makes Werribee City Centre so special – with its great independent businesses, creativity and friendly, welcoming community.”
“Rug up, bring in the kids, and enjoy the magic of the Winter Street Party on Friday 28th June, from 4pm to 9pm. Admission is free.”
