Do you know a local volunteer who makes a world of difference in Wyndham?

Now is the time to acknowledge their contribution to the community by nominating them for a Wyndham Community Volunteer Award.

As part of National Volunteer Week, Wyndham City Mayor and Family Friendly City portfolio holder, Cr Mia Shaw, is encouraging residents to nominate volunteers for Wyndham’s 2019 Community Volunteer Awards.

“Our community has many residents who dedicate their time to help others and make Wyndham a wonderful place to live. Council is calling on you to help us find these special people, so we can show our gratitude and recognise their hard work,” Cr Shaw said.

“These committed and passionate community-minded volunteers deserve to have their efforts recognised and the Community Volunteer Awards are a wonderful way for us to say thank you.”

Awards this year will be presented to winners selected from seven different categories: Community Engagement; Community Health and Wellbeing; Arts, Culture or Tourism; Environment and Sustainability; Sports and Recreation; Young Volunteer of the Year and Community Group.

Additionally, the honour of Citizen of the Year will be awarded to one of the individual category winners, in recognition of a person who makes a particularly outstanding contribution.

All winners will be selected by members of an independent assessment panel and announced at the Awards Gala event on Friday 16 August, where the 2019 Citizen of the Year will be announced. All winners receive a trophy and the opportunity to direct a donation to a charity or not-for-profit community group of their choice.

Nominations for the 2019 Community Awards are open until Tuesday  2 June and Council is looking forward to an enthusiastic response from the community to identify and nominate deserving candidates.

Visit www.wyndham.vic.gov.au/cvawards today to nominate a person you think is making a positive impact in our community, and help us say thank you for all that they do.
