Hoppers Junction, with its delicious eateries and mix of businesses, is a preferred destination for many locals, especially as it is conveniently located next door to the recently upgraded Hoppers Crossing Train Station.

Wyndham City is inviting feedback on how the Junction is currently used and improvements that would make it a more vibrant, safe and accessible space that will meet future needs.

Hoppers Junction, with its strip of 24 businesses, is uniquely placed at the end of Old Geelong Road in Hoppers Crossing. It is part of a hub that features a small playground, Hoppers Crossing Town Centre and Hoppers Crossing Train Station. The Princes Highway separates it from the medical precinct that includes a university, hospital, dentist and other medical services.

Wyndham Councillor, Josh Gilligan who holds the City Design portfolio welcomed the engagement, saying it was a prime location to play, shop and relax.

“Wyndham City is committed to creating spaces that everyone can enjoy. Our population is expected to grow to 500,000 by 2040. We look forward to traders and the community sharing their thoughts on the current site and what they’d like to see at the junction in the future,” he said.

“By its very name, Hoppers Crossing represents a family orientated community – the crossing is named after Elizabeth Hopper who managed the opening and closing of the railway gates and her husband Stephen Hopper who was a railway ganger in the late 1800s.”

“The shops alongside the crossing adopted the name Hoppers Junction in recognition of the importance of this central point in the heart of Wyndham.”

“As our City grows and Hoppers Junction is made even more inviting, we look forward to seeing it become a stronger hub in the community.”
