The Wyndham Writing Awards are now open for aspiring writers to win a cash prize, be recognised for their work and be published in the Wyndham Writing Awards Anthology.

The Wyndham Writing Awards aim to inspire, encourage and recognise emerging Victorian adult writers and literary creators. Entries are open to all Victorian adults, 18-plus.

Wyndham City’s Learning City portfolio holder, Cr Jasmine Hill, said Wyndham was a creative melting pot for talented writers.

“We have some very creative emerging writers in our City and others whose talents are yet to be recognised. These awards offer a chance for novice and unseasoned writers to challenge themselves and blossom and flourish,” Cr Hill said.

“Prizes will be awarded for unpublished works in three categories:

  • Short story: Between 1,500 and 3,000 words
  • Poetry: 60 lines maximum

Vikki Petraitis – True Crime Author, will be judging the awards and the total cash prize pool is $3,600.” said Cr Hill

Each category has a cash prize for an overall winner and a second cash prize for the Arts Assist Local Encouragement Award.

Shortlisted entries will be published in the Wyndham Writing Awards Anthology 2023.
