The Active Ageing Program is back in 2021!

This year Council will run two six-week programs across three venues – the Grange Community Centre, Eagle Stadium and AquaPulse – with each venue hosting three or four activities each.

The first program commences the week of 15th March, with the second program commencing the week of 10th May.

Classes include: Walking Groups, Yoga, Pilates, Balance, Flex and Fun, Fitter for Life, Fitball/Chair- based Exercises, Chair Exercises and Stretch, Aqua Aerobics, Aqua Water Walking and Adult Active.

Wyndham is one of six Councils in Australia to have received an Active Ageing grant from the Federal Government towards this project.

The funding stream was established to increase participation in physical activity among Australians aged 65 and over, with an objective of improving overall health and wellbeing.

In line with this, Wyndham’s Active Ageing Program aims to:

  • Get inactive older Wyndham residents active
  • Enhance their understanding of the benefits of regular physical activity
  • Be different in our approach
  • Customise our programs to meet the needs of our older residents

Sport Australia – Pre & Post Evaluation

Our Active Ageing Program is one of many funded programs in the Sport Australia’s Move it AUS grant program. The aim is to get more people more active. This program aims to improve physical activity for those Australians aged 65 years and older.

As part of the program evaluation, Sport Australia and the researchers at the University of Sydney would like to understand how the Move it AUS grant programs are influencing and supporting you to engage in physical activity opportunities.

You will be invited to complete both pre & post evaluation surveys. To find out more information about the evaluation, visit the Sport Australia's website.

The online surveys are part of the evaluation of the Move it AUS grant program. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete. Your participation is voluntary, and all responses are confidential.
