Dumping is Damaging Campaign

Illegally dumping consists of any waste which is inappropriately discarded in a public place, for example: household waste that is disposed of on a roadside or household waste that is placed in or near a dumpster at a building site.
The Dumping is Damaging campaign is targeting the northern suburbs of the municipality where illegal dumping is unfortunately quite common. The aims of the campaign are to educate residents on how they can get rid of waste safely and legally and also to inform people about how to make a litter report if they witness someone dumping waste illegally.
Dumping is Damaging promotes the following key messages to all residents:
Dumping is Damaging........
|
........to our community. Dumped rubbish is unsightly and makes our neighbourhood dirty, appear uncared for |
| ........to our environment. Dumped rubbish often enters our rivers and creeks causing damage to the plants and animals that live there |
|
........to our economy. Dumped rubbish costs homeowners in Wyndham more than $1 million each year to clean up. |
|
........to our health. Dumped rubbish can be harmful to our health especially if it contains dangerous substances |
