Weerama Festival

Wyndham's major community-run festival is Weerama, will be held from Thursday 26th March 2009 - Sunday 29th March 2009. The festival presents entertainment and arts activities in locations throughout the City of Wyndham.

The majority of Weerama activities take place in Watton Street, Werribee where the annual parade, youth and children's activities and free performances are featured.

Weerama History

Weerama means "TO PLAY" and was developed when the Keep Australia Beautiful Committee merged with Council in 1978 to form a Festival Committee.

The committee was compiled of various groups and persons from within the then Werribee Shire. This group developed into the Weerama Co-ordinating Committee, now known as the Weerama Festival Committee Incorporated.

Although the Weerama Festival has changed considerably over the years, the procession has always had a good turnout of float entrants.

The Weerama Festival Committee is committed to continually improving the festival and is always on the lookout for new ideas, suggestions and enthusiastic committee members.

Contact Heather Marcus on 9741 5146 if you would like to discuss any aspects of the Festival.
