Environment & Sustainability

Although Australia is the worlds driest inhabited continent, Australians are amongst the highest per capita consumers of water.

This has led to serious water shortages throughout Australia and placed many of the country's river systems under stress.  This is exacerbated by the fact that Wyndham is among the driest municipalities in the Greater Melbourne area with an average rainfall in the range of 400-500mm.

This section of the website provides information on the Water Issue, Council's water consumption; Waterway quality in Wyndham; activities taken by Council to reduce water consumption and impact on waterways; and things that you can do to help reduce water consumption and human impact on waterways.
