Opening Times
Weekdays: 8am-4pm
Saturdays, Sundays, Public Holidays: 8.30am-4pm
Closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday.

The facility is NOT licenced to accept asbestos or liquid waste (paint, chemicals etc).

The RDF is licensed by the EPA to take only putrescible and solid inert waste. This includes domestic and commercial waste, supermarket processing and food waste, garden waste, demolition material, concrete, bricks, timber, plastic, glass, metals, bitumen, trees, uncontaminated fill and shredded tyres. There are specific surcharge fees for tyres to cover the costs associated with having the tyres shredded. The EPA requires Council to shred the tyres into pieces less than 250mm in diameter.

Council is not licensed to take low level contaminated soil or prescribed waste and as a result, the facility cannot accept asbestos or liquid waste (e.g. paint and chemicals). We are able, however, to take car oil free of charge on its own in small quantities (less than 15 litres).

Items that are readily accepted at our local Refuse Disposal Facility in Wests Road, Werribee include:

  • car batteries (no charge on its own)
  • car oil (no charge on its own)
  • gas cyclinders ($6.00 each)

Provision is made at the RDF to recycle the following items:

  • glass bottles & jars (brown, green and clear)
  • aluminium cans
  • waste car oil - small quantities only
  • old car bodies
  • car tyres
  • tree prunings
  • whitegoods

Customers are requested to separate these items for ease of recovery. Garden waste is recycled into mulch and is available free of charge to Wyndham residents from the RDF (proof of residency required). Mulch is available on a self serve basis (while stocks last.) No responsibility or liability is accepted for the quality and contents of mulch . Ph: 9974 1001.
