Wyndham's Water Consumption & Quality
Wyndham City is committed to achieving long term environmental sustainability. This means taking steps to protect and enhance Wyndham’s natural assets, as well as taking responsibility for the municipality’s broader environmental footprint, which includes reducing water consumption and addressing the water quality of local waterways.
Through the ICLEI Water Campaign and with the assistance of Melbourne Water’s Sustainable Water Use Plan, Wyndham City has put the above commitment into action, adopting the following water conservation and quality goals:
- To reduce Council’s water consumption by 10% below 2002-03 levels by 2013, calculated on a per resident basis.
- To reduce household community water consumption by 15% below 2002-03 levels, by 2013.
-
To undertake water quality actions totalling 50 points as outlined by the ICLEI Water Campaign Action Cards.
The links below provide information on water consumption in both Wyndham City’s operations and the Wyndham community as a whole (including the industrial and residential sectors). Information is also provided on the Water Quality in the City of Wyndham.
