Microchipping

Ranger with Microchip Scanner

The State Government has brought in new legislation that applies to all NEW animal registrations.

All animals that are being registered for the FIRST TIME with Council must now be microchipped before they can be registered.

A microchip provides a permanent form of identification which can quickly reunite owners with lost or injured pets. The microchip is approximately the size of a grain of rice and is electronically imprinted with a unique number which can be picked up by an electronic scanner.

Vets, animal welfare organisations and other authorised people can microchip your pet. The Council Pound also offers pet microchipping by appointment ($40 per animal, $25 for pensioners). Wyndham City Council also holds pet microchip days on a regular basis. Pets already registered with Council do not have to be microchipped.
