The City of Wyndham is the fastest growing municipality in Victoria and the third fastest in Australia and is supported by one of the State’s most dynamic and progressive local authorities.

Wyndham’s population at June 30, 2007 was estimated to be 128,282 and the population is expected to reach over 202,000 by 2021.  Wyndham has experienced 5.9 per cent or about 6,000 people, per annum, which equates to about five new families moving into the municipality each day.

This popularity has been achieved as a result of many attractive features, including Wyndham’s proximity to Melbourne and Victoria’s largest regional centre, Geelong.

Spanning 542 square kilometres on a coastal plain on the western fringe of Melbourne, the City is home to a diversity of sectors: strong industrial and technology districts, two major retail precincts, intensive vegetable growing areas and grazing lands. Key tourism and open space attractions such as the Werribee Park Mansion, Victoria’s Open Range Zoo at Werribee, the State Equestrian Centre, the Point Cook Homestead and the Point Cook RAAF Museum surround the expansive urban area.

The City is large and diverse. The principal areas of population are Werribee and Hoppers Crossing, with substantial growth occurring in Tarneit, Point Cook, Truganina and Wyndham Vale. Werribee South is home to one of the most significant market garden regions in the State. The city has a major industrial area at Laverton North.

The City also hosts a number of Federal and State Government installations and State Reserves. Research and development of national significance is undertaken in the technology precinct at Werribee. The City’s retail sector includes the Werribee Central Business District and the freestanding Werribee Plaza.
