Immunisation is vital to the health of our community and is just as important for adults as it is for children.
Immunising is the most cost-effective medical means by which to maintain and protect the health of the population via the reduction, elimination and eradication of preventable communicable diseases. Immunisation not only protects the individual, but also shields the wider community from the spread of infection by decreasing the number of susceptible people in the population.
The Wyndham City Council Immunisation Unit provides public immunisation sessions to ensure the community can be vaccinated against many diseases. The National Immunisation Program (NIP) provides a schedule of FREE vaccines for babies right through to adults at 65 years of age. Council also provides a “user pay” system for vaccines not funded by the government which include the flu vaccine.
