Food Safety Programs

A Food Safety Program is a document which indicates what steps you and your business are taking to make sure that all the food you sell is safe.

Food Business in Victoria other than low-risk, pre-packaged foods are required to implement a Food Safety Program.  A Food Safety Program needs to be submitted to Council with your registration application.  If any changes are made within this program throughout the year, those changes also are required to be submitted to Council.

A premises may develop an independent FSP which will be required to be audited by a certified Food Safety Auditor.  Alternatively, food premises can choose to implement a Standard Food Safety Program which has been registered with the Department of Human Services.
