Health Act Premises

A person conducting a personal care and body art business - including hairdressing, beauty treatments, tattooing, ear piercing or any other process involving the penetration of the skin - must register such premises with the local government under the Health Act 1958.

Current legislation does not require the registration of solaria, colonic irrigation or massage businesses.

The Environmental Health Unit is responsible for carrying out routine inspection of all Health Premises to ensure correct hygiene practices are implemented and premises are complying with Health Act standards.

For further details you can contact Council's Environmental Health Unit on 9742 0738.
