The Environmental Health Unit is responsible in maintaining the public health in the Municipality. Public Health Enforcement responsibilities cover the Health Act, Food Act, Tobacco Act, Environment Protection Act (Septic Tanks, Grey Water and Residential Noise), Caravan Parks and Movable Dwellings.
Environmental Health Officers assess food safety practices and inspects each 621 food premises in Wyndham City Council at least once a year to ensure it complies with safety requirements and Food Standards. Food premises complaints regarding food safety breaches are also investigated by the unit.
All Health Act premises in the muncipality which include beauty care, hairdressers, body piercing, tattooists and accommodation establishments are also inspected at least once a year.
Environmental Health Services is also responsible for enforcing and monitoring the requirements of the Tobacco Act 1987 which includes sale of tobacco to minors, smoke free dining and advertising requirements.
The also has the ability to enforce the EPA Regulations which range from noise, smoke and odour complaints.
Public Immunisation Service is also provided by the Unit. There are 13 public immunisations sessions run on a monthly basis.
