The Wyndham Leisure and Events Centre (WLEC) is Wyndham’s premier venue for holding larger functions, conferences, seminars, fairs, concerts, and exhibitions.
Wyndham City Council operates a Community Subsidy Scheme to ensure that local community groups can access the WLEC at affordable rates. Under the scheme eligible groups can receive a subsidy of up to 50% off the cost of hiring the Events Centre (use of the leisure facilities is not eligible for a subsidy). Charges for catering, hire of audio-visual equipment, and other additional expenses are not covered by the subsidy.
Please note that payments of subsidies are made directly to the WLEC on behalf of the group applying.
Who can Qualify for a Subsidy?
To be eligible for a subsidy:
- The booking must be made in the name of a not-for-profit community group, school, or emergency service;
- The group must not directly receive income from the proceeds of gaming machines;
- The activity or event must primarily appeal to local Wyndham residents; and
- The application must be submitted to the WLEC at least 14 days prior to the activity or event.
Please note that groups are only eligible for one subsidy per calendar year (taken from the date of the booking).
How to Apply
If your group is interested in holding an event at the WLEC you should enquire about the suitability of the spaces available and the dates and times available and obtain a written quote.
The attached application form should be filled out and submitted directly to the WLEC (see below for address). The award of subsidies is decided by Wyndham City Council, with positive responses sent back to the WLEC usually within 7 days – please contact the centre to find out the outcome of your application. If a subsidy application is not approved a letter will be sent by Council directly to the applicant explaining the reasons.
