The population of Wyndham is forecast to grow from its current size of 172,106 people to around 400,000 people within the next 30-35 years. To serve this growing population, Wyndham and Melbourne’s west will require a regional capital city as a focal point for commerce, recreation and culture. The Werribee City Centre, together with the Werribee Employment Precinct, is envisioned as "The Capital of Melbourne’s New West".
This website presents the exciting Vision for the Werribee City Centre. Navigate the website to discover What, Why, Where, How, When and Who about the vision.
A set of documents has been drafted which set out the vision and planning framework for the future Werribee City Centre. These documents are now on exhibition for public comment as Planning Scheme Amendments C150 and C151. The document set comprises:
- Werribee City Centre Structure Plan
- Schedule 1 to the Activity Centre Zone – Werribee Principal Activity Centre
- Werribee City Centre Parking Precinct Plan
- Schedule to Clause 52.06-6
Copies of the Amendment C150 and C 151 exhibition documents are available on the ‘Library’ section of this website, along with the supporting changes to the Wyndham Planning Scheme. The documents are also available for viewing at the Wyndham Civic Centre and all Wyndham libraries.
The documents are on exhibition for public comment from 5 January 2012 to 29 February 2012. Submissions are welcomed. The closing date for submissions is Wednesday 29 February 2012.
