Truganina Employment Precinct

The Truganina Employment Precinct is a new employment area of approximately 662 hectares located at the north-eastern edge of the City of Wyndham.  It will form an extension of the Western Industrial Node – one of Melbourne’s three major industrial areas – and will deliver between 10,000 and 15,000 new jobs in the region.

The development of the Truganina Employment Precinct is informed by two principal strategic planning documents prepared and introduced by the Growth Areas Authority and Wyndham City Council under Wyndham Planning Scheme Amendment C124, gazetted on 22 December 2009:

Truganina Employment Precinct Structure Plan (PSP)

The Truganina Employment Precinct PSP proposes a high quality industrial and commercial area with strong architectural and landscape themes.   Tree reserves along the major arterial routes and strategic positioning of landmark buildings will provide attractive gateways and routes at key points within the development.  Planning and design guidelines encourage a cohesive built form and consistent and high quality landscaping, commensurate with the type of business envisaged for the area.  The PSP addresses the precinct’s interface with the future Truganina Community South Precinct, Lawrie Emmins Reserve, Laverton and Dohertys Creeks, Port Phillip Prison, and the potential location and alignment of the ‘Western Freight Terminal’ and associated rail corridor proposed as part of the State Government’s freight network strategy - ‘Freight Futures’.

Truganina Employment Precinct Development Contributions Plan (DCP)

The Truganina Employment Precinct DCP details the provision of works, services and facilities to be used by the future business community of this new employment area.  It outlines projects required to ensure that future business operators, visitors and workers within the precinct can be provided with timely access to services and transport necessary to support a quality, affordable business environment.  The DCP also details requirements that must be met by future land use and development and provides developers, investors and local businesses with certainty about development contribution requirements and how they will be administered.
