Half Cost Fencing
Council will contribute half of the cost to repair, replace or construct a new fence abutting a Council Property.
The owner of the abutting property seeking to repair, replace or construct a fence abutting a Council Property must supply Council with two written quotations for the work. Council must approve the repair, replacement or construction of the fence and agree to the cost of the works before work is commenced. Under the Fences Act 1968, the resident is not able to retrieve reimbursement if works have already been completed and no prior notification was given to Council.
Council will pay half the cost of a standard 1.65m timber paling fence. If the owner of the abutting property would like a fence to be more than 1.65m or constructed of different material, such as Colorbond, the owner must pay the additional cost of the fence.
