Wyndham Council has joined forces with community representatives to advocate to the State Government for a timely solution to the Werribee/Cottrell St intersection traffic crisis.
The collaboration of community, Council, local business operators and other stakeholders has resulted in the formation of the Roads 2 Wyndham advocacy group. Roads 2 Wyndham representatives today introduced themselves to motorists experiencing long delays at the Werribee/Cottrell St intersection.
Possible short-term solutions include:
Duncans Road freeway ramps
The installation of freeway ramps at Duncans Road, to and from Geelong, would allow traffic to avoid the Werribee/Cottrell Street intersection by continuing along the freeway to Duncans Road, Werribee South
Browns Rd Level Crossing and Associated Road Works
The construction of McGraths Road, south of Black Forest Road, the upgrade of the Browns Road level crossing and sealing Alfred Road to the Princes Hwy would provide an alternative route to the freeway for Wyndham Vale residents and take traffic away from the intersection
Geelong Road Turn Lane Extension
An extension of the left turn lane on Geelong Road (Princes Highway) on the western approach to the intersection would allow more traffic to turn left without holding up vehicles turning right.
