Point Cook Library Open Longer By Popular Demand
Point Cook Library is giving residents the chance to peruse the bookshelves a little longer, with extended opening hours on weeknights starting next month.
Additional staff have been provided to allow for an extra two hours on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The additional hours follow the outcomes of the Point Cook Community Learning Centre survey which called for opening hours to be increased.
Truganina Ward Councillor Bob Fairclough said the extended opening hours highlighted the success of the library.
“Located in the heart of the Point Cook Town Centre, with over 40,000 items available for loan, it’s easy to see why this library attracts 24,000 visitors per month,” Cr Fairclough said.
“Part of the Point Cook Community Learning Centre, this library has become a vital hub for our community.”
“With neighbouring shops and supermarkets open later in the evening, residents will soon be able to stop in and pick up a few groceries and borrow a few books from the library, all in the one stop until 8pm on most weeknights.”
“Wyndham’s libraries are no longer just places to go and borrow a book, residents can do everything from surf the internet to read a magazine, play on the Wii or research their family tree.”
From Monday, 6th February 2012 the Point Cook Library will be open:
- Monday 10 to 8pm (extra 2 hours)
- Tuesday 10 to 8pm (extra 2 hours)
